Founder’s Message

School of Biotechnology

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the academic world of the KIIT School of Biotechnology (KSBT).

Envisioning the potential of a fast-growing dynamic biotechnology sector, I wanted to set up the School of Biotechnology under KIIT University and persuaded Prof. (Dr.) Mrutyunjay Suar to return to Odisha from Zurich, Switzerland to give wings to my dream. Thus, KSBT was established in 2007 with Dr Suar as its Founder-Director. Its foundation stone was laid by Prof. Richard R Ernst (Nobel Laureate, 1991), and the state-of-art facilities of this pioneering school were inaugurated by Prof. Rolf M Zinkernagel (Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, 1996).

Thanks to the relentless effort of Dr Suar and his dynamic team, KSBT has since grown exponentially to become one of India’s most preferred destinations for pursuing a B.Tech in Biotechnology. It has emerged as a Centre of Excellence built on the pillars of academic excellence, top-notch infrastructure, futuristic curriculum and commitment to research and innovation.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Dr Suar for bringing prominence to KSBT and the KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI), making a mark in India and across the globe. KSBT has become a trailblazer in the field as validated by various agencies of the Government of India. It has been effectively fulfilling the demand for highly skilled scientists within the biotechnology industry. The alumni of the school are well placed in the industry and many of them qualify to pursue research in reputed national and international universities. I hope the school will continue to scale even greater heights by effectively providing the practical and theoretical skills needed to boost the career trajectory of its students. I wish my loveable KIITians all the best in your career and life
