Dr. Janeka Gartia
Assistant Professor
Dr. Janeka Gartia is a structural biologist with expertise in biomolecular NMR spectroscopy for characterizing biomolecules at atomic resolution. He earned his master’s degree in chemistry from IIT Delhi and his Ph.D. from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. He pursued his postdoctoral research at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, for over two years.
Gartia’s lab at KIIT centers its research on metabolomics studies of medicinal plants using NMR spectroscopy—a non-invasive, non-destructive, and rigorously quantitative high-throughput technique. His research focuses on space- and time-resolved profiling of phytomedicinal compounds to map their biosynthesis and spatial distribution, alongside developing NMR methodologies and computational tools for metabolomic analysis.
