Dr. Janeka Gartia
Assistant Professor
Dr. Janeka Gartia is a structural biologist with expertise in biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy for characterizing biomolecules at atomic resolution. He earned his Master’s degree in chemistry from IIT Delhi and his Ph.D from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. Before joining KIIT School of Biotechnology as a faculty member in November, 2022, he was a postdoctoral fellow in cellular structural biology lab at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, for over two years.
Gartia’s lab employs NMR spectroscopy–a non-invasive, non-destructive and rigorously quantitative high-throughput technique for clinical metabolomics and natural product-based drug discovery, to profile biological samples (urine, blood, and other biofluids), identify disease biomarkers, and screen for active therapeutic compounds. In addition, The lab has a keen interest in developing NMR methodologies and computational workflows to advance metabolomic discovery.
